Man Who Protected William & Harry Passes Away — Family “Devastated”

Princess Diana’s Former Bodyguard, Lee Sansum, Dies at 63

Lee Sansum, the former royal military police officer who protected Princess Diana and her sons, William and Harry, has passed away from a sudden heart attack at the age of 63. His wife, Kate, confirmed the news in an emotional tribute, calling him her “soul mate and hero.”

Sansum was best known for guarding Diana during her 1997 holiday in St. Tropez, just a month before her tragic death. Nicknamed “Rambo” by Diana, Sansum built a close bond with the family and once received a heartfelt thank-you note from the princess for his protection.

He had an extensive security career, working with celebrities like Tom Cruise and Sylvester Stallone, and served as a bodyguard to former Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond. Later in life, Sansum shared his experiences in a book titled The Bodyguard and revealed he had silently battled PTSD for years, including during his time protecting Diana and her sons.
